  • Schupfnudeln – also known as schopperla or buwespitzle depending on the region, these long potato dumplings can either be served savoury or sweet and served as a side dish to a main meal.
  • Currywurst – A very popular fast food dish consisting of steamed, fried sausage cut into bite-sized pieces and topped with curry ketchup. Although it is normally made with pork, you can find some vegan currywurst options around!
  • Kartoffelpuffer – similar to a rösti, this shallow-fried pancake is made of grated potatoes, egg, and flour. Sometimes eaten for breakfast as a savoury dish or with applesauce as a sweet dish, or as a side for lunch or dinner.
  • Brezel/Pretzel – the iconic knot of dough is served with a chewy brown salted exterior and a soft, fluffy interior.
