Welcome to Polkadot Passport!

My name is Nicola, and the Aussie photographer and blogger behind Polkadot Passport.

I took my first overseas trip to Cambodia at the age of 15, and ever since, my restless feet have not been able to stay in one place. After graduating high school, I was determined not to follow the conventional path that was marked out for me. Instead of diving into university or a dead-end 9-5 job, I took my love for photography, travel and adventure, and somehow managed to turn it into a full-time career. You can read about my whole journey to become a full-time travel blogger here.

Over the past five years, I have been lucky enough to travel to 57 countries across 5 continents. Polkadot Passport now receives over 1 million hits a year, has amassed 280,000 followers on social media, won numerous awards and has been featured on the likes of Lonely Planet, Huffington Post and the Daily Mail.

I started Polkadot Passport as a source of travel inspiration and information for adventurous souls. By sharing unique, bucket-list experiences, destination guides, travel photography tips and endless adventures, Polkadot Passport simple goal is to inspire everyone to go out and explore this beautiful world we live in. I am living proof that you don’t to have a full-time career under your belt or an overflowing bank account in order to explore the world. A life of adventure is possible for anyone who is willing to chase after it!

How are you funding all your trips? It looks so beautiful and I’m incredibly jealous. I would love to do the same thing but it can get pretty expensive. Just hoping for some insight. Thanks :)

Hi Julia! I’ve funded my trips mainly through working multiple casual jobs and running my photography business! I am lucky to have the income of my photography, but to be honest most of it does just come from spending months on end working mediocre jobs knowing the end goal, which makes it all worth it! It does require sacrifices, but it is definitely the best thing in the world to spend money on in my opinion :)

Absolutely in love with your blog! Your photography is seriously amazing! I’m currently living in Spain so I’m excited to see where you travel in Europe so I can get some more inspiration on where to go.

Hi Nicola, you are truly an inspiration. You are doing so many things that many people including me wish I was doing. I’m also an Australian who has now moved to Canada on a full-time basis. Your story is heartwarming and you are truly a visionary. You have inspired me so much that I want to talk to you about a way in which I can make a contribution as you continue your epic journey.

If you can send me an email, I will also share my travel journey (not as good as yours) and also tell you how I wish to make a contribution to your story. Thank you for being a fantastic, genuine, graceful and honest ambassador for Australians overseas.
