After a whirlwind 2-day trip through Florence, the next stop on my short sojourn through Italy was the Ancient city of Rome. Growing up in a nation as young as Australia, it was surreal to walk around a city as old as Rome. It was also surreal to see sights like the Trevi fountain, the Coliseum, and the Sistine Chapel in real life. While all of these grandiose places took my breath away, walking the streets in Rome was an equally thrilling experience.

I make no exaggeration, every time you turn a corner in this city, you are greeted with another magnificent building or a monument steeped in history. Beyond the notable landmarks, the Roman streets are bursting with an assemblage of colours and textures. Of course, we can’t forget the fascinating locals and tourists who populate the street.

Exploring the streets in Rome is an absolute dream, particularly for photography. They say Rome wasn’t built in a day. I can see now that far more than one day is needed to merely wander the streets of Italy’s capital. What one day WAS enough for was convincing me that I simply must to this incredible city.

I hope this photography series of the streets of Rome will inspire you for your next visit to Italy!
